Golf…Sleep…Repeat

Nothing like a little day trip of golf in northern Michigan!  You can start as early as 7am tee off and get in 54 holes a golf a day if you are a true die hard.  The courses up here are stunning and range from somewhat easy to challenging to professional grade and everywhere in-between.  It is a wonderful feeling out on the course, when the northern breeze is in your hair as you glide from shot to shot. And, at the end of the day you have a cozy vacation home to rest and unwind.

Here’s a few amazing golf courses in the area you might want to try:

  • Bay Harbor Golf Club, Bay Harbor – This award winning 27-hole course set along Little Traverse Day is a dream to play.  Given the honor of being names #13 on the “Top 50 golf courses in the world by Golf Advisor, this is not just a day of golf, but an experience. Architect Arthur Hills laid out this incredible Golf Club, divided by the 3 courses – with each having its own challenges, surrounded by natural beauty. BONUS:  The Links Grille at the Club has some great food – dine out on the patio overlooking the Preserve Course with a backdrop of Lake Michigan. Doesn’t get much better than that!
  • The Heather-Boyne Highlands, Harbor Springs – Named “National Course of the Year” in both 2019 and 2018, this course is a golf lovers favorite.  Open since 1966, it lives up to its’ expectations, creating a laid-back but “just challenging enough” scenario for any seasoned or un-seasoned player. Lovely, lush fairways and quick greens surrounded by northern Michigan hardwoods.
  • Dunmaglas, Charlevoix – Providing an ultimate golfing experience, the sheltered fairways and rolling terrain of Dunmaglas are a pleasure to play.  It has a friendly, yet very high quality vibe, and is set out off a country road, tucked into the trees.  Named one of the top 25 golf courses for “pace of play” in the country by GolfAdvisor.
  • Crooked Tree Golf Club, Petoskey – Perched high on bluffs overlooking Little Traverse Bay with spectacular views, this gem of a golf course has a feel all its own.  Many slanted fairways make for the perfect bounce that can give you a great roll.  There are definitely some tougher holes, but overall a really beautiful layout and mix of harder and easier play.
