Up Up and Away

The most uplifting and colorful event of the year happens annually in Bay Harbor’s Downtown Village. Balloons Over Bay Harbor started back in 2018, when pilot Derrick Jones set up a meeting with the event team in Bay Harbor to explain what the event would entail. Hot Air Balloons…lifting off from the Marina Lawns…3 at a time on each lawn…and so close to patrons they can practically reach out and touch them. In the evening, the balloons illuminate during the night glow on Friday and Saturday starting at 8pm. The first event was held in 2019, and it quickly became the “go to” event in September. Held normally on the 3rd weekend of September, it has taken on a life of it’s own. The hot air balloons are definitely the “stars” of the show, but there are other family fun activities to keep the event lively between the launches and the glows. Be sure to mark your calendars for September 22-24, 2023 for your next chance to keep your “eyes to the skies”!
